Scanning Capabilities
Blue Laser Scanning
- ✅ Best for: High-precision 3D scanning of detailed surfaces, fine textures, and reflective materials.
- Uses short-wavelength blue laser light, reducing noise and improving accuracy.
- Excellent for scanning metal, plastic, and dark or shiny objects.
- Ideal for engineering, prototyping, and quality control applications.
Infrared Scanning
- ✅ Best for: Capturing organic shapes, soft materials, and human body scanning.
- Uses infrared light, which is less affected by ambient lighting conditions.
- Ideal for scanning skin, fabric, and other non-reflective surfaces.
- Commonly used in biometrics, medical applications, and motion capture.
Note: Our 3D scanner supports both Blue Laser and Infrared scanning, allowing for versatile applications across different materials and surfaces.

Usage Guidelines
- Users must accept the Prototyping Policy and Procedures before booking.
- Print cost estimates are provided upon submission; final pricing is based on material usage and print time.
- Users must provide their own storage devices for scanned files—Te Au Pūngao does not store user data.
- PPE is required where specified.
- Workspaces and tools must be cleaned and returned in working condition after use.
- Damage due to misuse may result in repair fees and access restrictions.
- Unclaimed prints must be collected within seven days—after that, they become Te Au Pūngao property.
Booking Information
- All bookings must be made online at www.teaupungao.com.
- 3D print STL files must be submitted via email to [email protected].
- Booking is required for all equipment and workspace use—walk-ins are not permitted.
- Cancellations or changes must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
- Users must check in with staff before using any equipment.
